Past perfect progressive tense

فقروں کی نشانی: اردو فقروں کے آخر میں رہا تھا، رہے تھے، رہی تھی، وغیرہ آتا ہے لیکن ان جملوں میں Present Perfect Progressive کی طرح وقت کا ذکر ضرور ہوتا ہے۔ انگریزی کے فقرے میں فاعل کے بعد had been اور اس کے بعد ing فارم استعمال ہوتی ہے۔

بنانے کا طریقہ : فاعل کے بعد had been اور اس کے بعد فعل کی پہلی فارم کے ساتھ ing کا اضافہ ہوتا ہے مقررہ وقت کے لئے since اور مقررہ مدت کے لئے for کا استعمال کرتے ہیں۔

منفی اور سوالیہ فقرے بنانے کا طریقہ : فقرے میں دیئے گئے کے bad فوراً بعد not لگانے سے فقرہ منفی بن جاتا ہے۔ منفی سوالیہ فقرے بنانے کے لئے had کے بعد فاعل اور پھر not پھر been پھر verb کی ing فارم اور پھر object کے بعدsince/for اور پھر وقت دیتے ہیں۔

فارمولے:

Sub + had + not + been + V(1st) + ing + Obj since/for + time.

یہ فعل کہاں استعمال ہوتا ہے؟

یہ ٹینس ایسے کاموں کے لیے استعمال ہوتا ہے جو زمانہ ماضی میں کسی مقرر وقت یا مقرر مدت سے جاری ہوئے اور ختم ہو گئے اگر جملے میں وقت کا ذکر ہی نہ ہو تو اس ٹینس کا جملہ ہی نہ ہو گا۔ مثلاً:

میں دو گھنٹے سے انتظارِ کر رہا تھا۔

I had been waitinging for two days.

ہم صبح سے اپنا کام کر رہے تھے۔

We had been working since morning.

وہ دو دن سے کھیل رہے تھے۔

They had been playing for two days.
